Lexington Herald Leader – December 25, 2017

Christmas Day was a pretty cool day for the Lexington Herald Leader.  Zach’s handsome face graced the front page of the paper, along with his new dog, Carmen.

Click here for the special update on Zach and his recovery after hip surgery.

Zach Pickard in his home in Lexington, Ky., Monday, December 18, 2017. Zach Pickard has had a very long year. The effects of the rapid aging disease progeria have made themselves felt more than ever in the tiny 10-year-old. Zach had been unable to walk because of a faulty hip, underwent surgery in September at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital and is now in physical therapy with the goal of walking again. The family had brought in a Canaan dog (Carmen the Canaan), large and sweet, to help Zach through his recovery. They have decided to keep her.
