Zach Pickard is the young son of Brandon and Tina Pickard. Brandon is an employee of BESCO. Zach is two years old and has been diagnosed with progeria. The Progeria Research Foundation (PRF)s mission is to discover the cure and effective treatment for Progeria and its aging-related disorders. Progeria is a fatal, premature aging disease that afflicts children, who die of heart disease at an average age of 13. Research on Progeria will benefit not only these special children, but perhaps also millions of people who suffer from heart disease and other aging related conditions. 2007 marked a historic year for PRF, as the first-ever Progeria Clinical Drug Trial began in May 2007. For the first time, there is a possible treatment for children with Progeria. PRF must raise $2 million for this trial. Now more than ever, PRF needs your support. For more information about progeria, visit their website at www.progeriaresearch.org. Race applications are available by contacting Diana Beedie at 812-358-4555.
